Escapes
A friend of mine gave me the idea for this post (thank you F).
We all have a life full of daily routines and responsibilities.
Things that sometimes make our lives stressful and difficult.
So it's nice to have something to escape to.
It can be somewhere you like to go on your own or something you do.
One of my escapes (as well as my friend and probably a lot more people out there)
is online gaming.
We spend hours playing a game with people we have not met,
but we know we have something in common with.
Gaming for me is a place to hide from reality.
Something that makes me forget about my troubles
and about tomorrow.
(Click on the pictures to make them bigger)
(My favourite game)
Another escape is a place where I like to go when I need relaxation from my hectic life.
It's a place in town called the Urbis. There is a patch of grass there and I like to sit there
(when it's warm enough) and I look at all the people around me.
So many different people in one place doing the same thing as I.
Just being.
Daydreaming is probably my favourite escape.
I imagine myself being something great and I am completely happy with myself and who I am.
Just nice to be able to dream away.
Imagine being somewhere warm. Laying in a field just looking up at the blue sky.
Books have also been an escape for me all my life.
I remember when I used to go into one of our "spare rooms" (kinda like a wardrobe)
and I sat in there for hours reading the "adventures of Tintin" hehe.
Imagining I was a part of the adventures. Loved it :D
Do you have an escape?
Tell me where or what you do when you need to escape from reality for a moment.
You can do it anonymously ;)
Thank you for a lovely post.
Books aren't a place I escape, but then again I'm not big on reading.
I sometimes like to switch off inside... the lights are on but no one is home :) It helps makes commuting that little bit more bearable sometimes.
Hi Karo :)
I like this post.
As a TF2 player myself, I know how it can bring a group of people, wherever they may actually be, together and have a common interest. It's a mean of escape for sure, but also somewhere to socialise and chat with fellow players and have giggles. Sometimes I play the game just to "be" with the people there, the game is secondary.
I like sitting back and watch the world go by. Don't do it as much as I would like, but then makes it more special when I do so. Also, having a place to "call your own" is nice, makes it that bit more of an experience.
Daydreaming for me can be good or bad, depends on my mood at the time. I hope you daydream better then me, and they are nice ones.
I've been a big reader for over 20years. I try to vary what I read so I don't get too bored. I am not one who tries to picture things in their minds when reading, as I think I lack the imagination, but can still enjoy a good book.
I have an escape of my own. The dark.
I just love the dark, especially with no noise or anything going on. Sounds wierd, and I have to do at when I am up for it, but I love the isolation it gives. It's a sense of security in its own way, there is nothing out there, so I am safe.
Turning this in to a blogg of my own here, sorry Karo :P
Alan
Hello Ciri,
thanks for the views of your life.
Its easy to read and i can this good translate.
As I relax depend on my daily form.
I read often your Blogg and political newspapers.
Since one year i play "zocke" TF2 at dearest. ( danger of habit formation)
Which fascinates me at online play, a common tactics is to find the tasks to solve.
A last questions:

Oh lemme see:
I love to go out for long walks - sometimes for 4 or 5 hours. I live in a part of the country that is amazingly beautiful and just walking around and feeling small and absorbing myself in the landscape is very relaxing. Its also helps me to get perspective when ive got something i cant get off my mind - making me realise that my problems arent insurmountable and theres NO be all and end all problem.
Games definitely are an escape for me - as im sure you know Karolina. tbh for me its as much the social element of it that i like - talking to ppl and just laughing and joking and killing ppl (lol). I guess it feels like a consequence free environment - even though sometimes it isnt. Have to be careful with this one for me though as if i spend TOO much time playing games i tend to just feel very unsatisfied and it gets me down.
Surprisingly enough i find my work can be an escape. Although sometimes i HATE doing my maths its very very absorbing and i can get really involved with it (involved enough to shout and curse sometimes when i get things wrong :s lol). I suppose thats the reason why really - when im doing it there really isnt room in my brain for anything else.
Daydreaming - yeeeeees lol. Usually involving people i know (occasionally people i used to know) and i do role plays and have conversations and stuff in my head - i have a feeling that makes me technically one muffin short of a six pack but whatever lol.
Sometimes I loev to just lie back and listen to music - i have very eclectic tastes and so sometimes itll be a hard rocking guitar solo piece and sometimes itll be a soulful blues number and sometimes itll be a classical piano sonata. I find that music quite often dramatically effects my mood - I have to be careful how it affects it sometimes tho lol.
And btw Karolina - I dont read all THAT much anymore. But i think we have ALL the tintin books up in the loft somewhere. I used to absolutely LOVE those books. Happy days lol
Guys I'm loving your comments :)
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me and the others :)
It makes writing so much more fun for me.
To read about YOU :)
Big huggles for all of you.
Thanks Spanks. The walking part is right for me too. I just wish there were some nice areas to walk around in Manchester... But I do love a nice walk :)
Music is another one I did not mention.
I love music and what it makes me feel inside.
It gives me hope. And you all know how much that means to me :)
Especially lately.. I put on "I got a feeling" and I lit up :) hehe
